1. You’ve lived in Brazil, Austria, and now carry a French passport (congratulations on that!) – when did you first feel like a true nomad?

I grew up seeing my mother travel overseas for work and was fascinated with the idea I could once do that too. I think the "nomad" feeling really kicked in when I moved abroad for the first time at age 15. I spent some time in Canada for high-school and loved the feeling "building a new home".
Even though I traveled quite a bit, moving to Austria felt like a completely new chapter, a real leap into the unknown (in all aspects, including the language at firs). Europe always had my heart. The French passport is a recent bonus, making things even easier!

2. With The List, you’ve built a go-to resource for English-speaking jobs in Austria. What sparked the idea, and how has the community grown since?

I remember googling "Where to find English jobs in Austria" in 2009. I found NOTHING. The List was born out of my own need. Over 16 years in Austria I saw many talented people struggle to find English-speaking roles here. I wanted to help.
In 2024 the project took shape and started small, just sharing job link. It has grown organically through word-of-mouth and the amazing community (of now 7,900+ members) that's built around it. It's incredible to see how many people it's helped.

3. Many newcomers struggle with misconceptions about working in Austria. What’s the biggest myth you’d like to bust once and for all?

The biggest myth I want to bust is that Austria is somehow closed off to foreigners. Yes, there are challenges, but with the right approach and resources, it's absolutely possible to build a successful career here. The market is much more open than many people assume.

4. Living between cultures and languages, how has your own nomadic journey shaped the way you work?

Living between cultures has made me incredibly adaptable, empathetic and resilient. I've learned to see things from multiple perspectives, which is invaluable in understanding the needs of both job seekers and employers. It's also taught me the importance of clear communication and building bridges.

5. Imagine someone is about to land in Austria with nothing but a suitcase and ambition. What’s the one piece of advice you’d give them?

My one piece of advice would be: be proactive and persistent, but also be kind to yourself. Austria has a lot to offer, but it takes time and effort to navigate. Connect with people, learn the culture, and don't be afraid to ask for help. And definitely explore The List Austria, because this is one of the most supportive communities I've seen so far around.
